The Lifestyle Brand Teambladi was founded in 2016 and was released in January, 2019. The idea behind Teambladi was to create a Streetwear brand which focus on delivering the message of how important it is to give it all you have, work on yourself, have the right mindset and to support each other on the way of achieving your goals.
Omar, founder and CEO of Teambladi, about the streetwear brand:
“I always wanted to create a fashion brand which I can use to share my message with the world. When I grew up, I was often confronted with racism, exclusion, and hatred. As a kid you see things differently, most of the time you don’t even understand why people act the way they do, because kids can’t relate to the mindset and intentions of grown-ups. Now when you look back you see things differently. You start to understand why people did somethings or why they acted the way they did. And it really makes me sick that so many people have the “You are different, so you are bad” kind of a mindset.
I am Moroccan, but I was born in Vienna, Austria. Most of the time people don’t accept you as a local, because you look different, your name sounds weird to them, you don’t share the same beliefs and you don’t have the same cultural background, despite having the Austrian citizenship and growing up in Vienna City. So they making things hard for you and really can do a lot of damage to a kid if you don’t have a family who backs you up and give you the support and love you need as a child and also as a human. Those experiences really define you and you can learn a lot from them.
When I founded Teambladi I did not just want to be another fashion streetwear brand with some catchy designs/slogans and the usual “We are the best streetwear brand” mentality. The fact to be just a number never really attracted me. Be unique, be a Gamechanger. I really wanted to create something special, meaningful. A want to deliver a message and not just making money and having people wearing the brand. I decided to use my experiences to help others who have similar experiences in life and to deliver a certain message through the Lifestyle Brand, not only to people around me also for the future generations.
The message behind Teambladi: The progression of a multicultural society, the importance of working together and being a unit is a daily situation we all, especially the youth, are confronted with. Teambladi is the connection between all of it. We don’t care where you from, which color your skin has or what your beliefs are. If you share our mindset you are part of the Fam. Teambladi isn’t just a streetwear brand, it’s a Lifestyle. Work hard, stay humble, give 200%, be unique and chase your goals. No matter what your past is, you decide your future. We don’t judge and we support each other. Winner-mentality: We all going to make it, no need to make it a competition. We make the difference.
I get a lot of questions about the meaning behind the Lifestyle brand name. Actually, I wanted to use some way of team-/gang-term in order to create a feeling of unity. I decided to go with Team but I still needed a second term to make it sound special and unique. I played with some Moroccan words because I think it sounds pretty dope when you mix languages. I came up with the idea to use the word “Bladi”. The Arabic word “wld Bladi” (ولد بلادي) means my compatriot (to be more specific: son of my heritage). It’s used by North-Africans in order to refer to their similarity (kind of “Hey we share something, so we are more than just strangers”). I redefined the meaning behind Bladi. My definition of it is “my teammate, one of us”. So instead of referring to the heritage I refer to the message behind Teambladi. If you share the same mindset, you are a Bladi. Period.
To sum things up the slogan of Teambladi is “0% Smalltalk. 200% Grind. They talk. We hustle.” A short definition of the mindset of a Bladi. Instead of talking, we are hustling. Teambladi isn’t just a Lifestyle Brand or some regular Streetwear. Nope we are delivering a message! Time to change the Game.”
Teambladi isn’t just a Streetwear Brand it’s a Lifestyle. If it’s at work, at the gym, on the streets or at home. Be a role model, show them how it’s done.
If you really want to make the difference and achieve your goals you have to breathe and live it. Don’t be one of a million, be a leader. Be Unique.
From the streets of Casablanca, Morocco to the districts of Vienna, Austria. All the way from Africa to Europe. No matter what your circumstances are, if you have a dream, go out there and chase it. It doesn’t matter how much talent you have or what your preconditions are. Create a plan and execute. You will fail at some point, but that doesn’t matter. If you fall, get up and try again.
